Hobsons Mild Named Champion Beer of Britain

Hobsons Mild is the 2007 Champion Beer of Britain. The announcement was made at the Great British Beer Festival, which runs through Saturday at Earl's Court in London.

Hobsons Mild beat out hundreds of beers from all over the United Kingdom for the honor. Mighty Oak Morland Gold was awarded second place, while Green Jack Ripper was third.

Hobsons Brewery, located in Cleobury Mortimer, a country town west of Birmingham, opened in 1993. The brewery concentrates on making a range of traditional British beers. Hobsons Mild is a 3.2 percent alcohol by volume beer that uses chocolate malt to create a flavorful dark mild.
