Asheville, N.C. – Organizers
of the inaugural Asheville Rare
& Wild Beer Tasting have released a list of confirmed breweries for the
May 31 event.
A total of 24 breweries will pour rare and exotic beers at the event. Pub will present the inaugural Asheville Rare
& Wild Beer Tasting during Asheville Beer Week to benefit Pints for Prostates, a nationwide campaign designed to raise awareness about
the importance of early detection in fighting prostate cancer.
Pints for Prostates is a 501(c)3 charity. It raises awareness about prostate cancer at beer festivals and pub events. Funds raised by the group help support free men’s health screenings provided by the Prostate Conditions Education Council and Us TOO Prostate Cancer Education and Support Network, which operates support groups for men battling the disease. Pints for Prostates is a 501(c)3 a campaign that reaches men through the
universal language of beer to encourage them to take charge of their health.
The group was founded by prostate cancer survivor and beer writer Rick Lyke in
2008. The grassroots effort raises awareness among men of the importance of
regular health screenings and PSA testing by making appearances at beer
festivals, social networking and pro bono advertising. More information is available
