Vineyards in Oregon had a record harvest in 2006, up 38 percent from the previous year.
According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, 34,400 tons of wine grapes were harvested in Oregon during last Fall's crush. The new record was the result of a good growing season and newly planted vineyards staring to produce a crop.
Demand for Oregon wine is growing, thanks to the popularity of pinot noir and pinot gris, which form the backbone of the Oregon wine industry.
