Fire Destroys Alabama Microbrewery

Olde Towne Brewing Co., the first brewery to operate in Huntsville, Ala., since Prohibition was instituted in the state in 1915, was destroyed by a fire early today.

The microbrewery opened in 2004. It was housed in a former Belk's Department Store in Huntsville. Don Alan Hankins, is the owner and head brewer at Olde Towne.

A cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
