Day 127 Drink: Falcor 2003 Le Bijou Napa Valley
Mike Bee and Jim Peterson are law in Charleston, West Virgina, with a dream of making wines in the Napa Valley. In 1995, they produce their first vintage of Falcor Chardonnay. Of the 192 cases made, the duo sold five, gave five away and drank the rest. Things have gone a little better since then.
Falcor 2003 Le Bijou Napa Valley is a blend of 41 percent cabernet franc, 38 percent cabernet sauvignon, 17 percent merlot ands 4 percent petit verdot. The wine is a dark purple color and opens with plenty a rich dark berries. The wine has a good level of tannins that smooth out the wine. Nice rich wine with hints of wood in the finish. Very good with a porterhouse.
