The wine and cheese reception was likely invented by an art gallery. However, in Pacific Grove, Calif., local officials believe that art and wine don't mix.
Police Chief Darius Engles told the Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce his department would enforce a ban on serving wine during monthly Artwalk events at local art galleries. The art galleries are not licensed by the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control so they cannot legally serve alcohol.
Ten galleries and shops participate Artwalk, an event that has been taking place for two years without any reported incidents.
