Wine exports from Australia recently hit 800 million liters for the first time in a 12 month period, reaching $2.56 billion annually.
The Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation says the figures from the August 2006 to July 2007 represent a record for the nation's vineyards. The 8 percent growth in exports reflects a trend by Australian wineries to focus on premium wines. These wines are boosting North American sales.
Britain is the largest export market for Australian wines.
